Reducing monthly tariff

Anonymous
Not applicable
Does anyone know the best way for me to go about reducing my tariff to the very very minimum amount I have to pay?
Basically, I've moved to Australia and am not planning on using my Iphone at all, simply for prices. I only got here 2 days ago but already have a basic pay as you go phone to keep me going!
I know it's not possible to freeze the contract so would just like to know if anyone has been in any similar positions where they can reduce the monthly allowance and bill, and if so, how much can it be brought down to?

As far as I know, you can only downgrade the tariff once, but yes, at the end of your contract just switch it to a basic payg sim. Remember though you have to make a chargeable call once every 6 months to keep the payg sim active.

When did you take out the contract? Anything taken after March 2012 cannot be reduced. Anything before then can be by £5 per month. But you can cancel any bolt on that you have which could save you some more money and won't matter if you're not using the account anyway.

Ok thanks - I took it out November 2011 so I was able to reduce it. I spoke to someone on the live chat service just there and was able to reduce it from £37 per month to £24. He said this was the furthest down he could do at this time.
I Wonder if in another months time I will be able to reduce it further?
So come November 2013 that means I won't have to pay that much anymore and I can end any monthly bill and just make it a pay as you go phone?
