I have poor quality coverage at home and have my phone Wi-Fi boosted in order to be able to use it at all. My land line is also via Virginmedia now so when we have a power cut I have no land line and no mobile to be able to find out how long the power cut might last, important to me as I need refrigeration for medications.
Has anyone been able to get round this problem?

You need to register with the power company and let them know, as they can add you to the priority register.
Other than that there is very little to suggest other than one of the Anker Larger Power Banks to plug things into in an emergency

@tearinghairout1 You might want to consider getting an uninterruptible power supply:

There are plenty of reviews available online, such as :-
Should You Buy a Portable Power Station? (howtogeek.com)

Just to highlight one example :-
For example, the Jackery 500w will recharge most smartphones upwards of 40 times or run a fridge for 10 hours.
I hope that helps. 👍

Or you could look at a small portable generator that runs on petrol - just don't leave it thrumming away in an enclosed space (ie. not in a built-in garage!) when you need to use it, @tearinghairout1 - and keep some extra fuel for topping up, in an approved jerry can or similar. Good luck!
