Be careful of this email doing the rounds now, O2 will never ask you to verify your account this way:

I have had a mail similar to the one in the link you posted, which I also think is a phishing mail. The bad spelling in the subject line made me suspicious. I have copied and pasted it exactly as it came to me. I am posting it here so that someone from O2 might be able to trace the links in the mail, as I don't know where else I could send it to for investigation. PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON ANY OF THE LINKS IN THIS POST!

Really obvious this one but then most of them are.

I don't mind a regular sprinkling of spam and phishing email, it keeps me awake! Smiley LOL

New Phishing email seems to be out at the moment and it looks like this:

Valued O2 Customer,

Your O2 account has encountered
a problem due to a system machinery error

To keep your details safe, We implore you to verify your account

Please follow the link below to resolve immediately

http:/o2.co.uk/myo2/account.aspx

Regards
The O2 Team

As I don't seem to have an issue with my account I have to assume this is a phishing email. But I am happy if someone can tell me otherwise!

Yours

I think you can safely assume that this is a phishing email. O2 wouldn't use the phrase 'system machinery error', and the parent company is Telefonica, not Telefynica.

As Adamtemp posted earlier in this thread, you can report the mail here: http://www.spamcop.net/
