2G and 3G Service Interuption
We have identified a connectivity issue on our network which has affected both 2G and 3G service in parts of East London, North London and Kent. Customers in these areas may be experiencing difficulty in making or receiving mobile calls, texts or using data. Our Engineering team are working on the problem as a priority in order to resume full service as soon as possible.
So dont worry too much...as long as it comes back. So...yep Im worried tongue

Most of the enterprises I have worked for have diverse cable connections for their telecommunications service. O2 don't seem to in this case. There have been other thefts of cable and equipment recently; I recall Vodafone having this problem in February at their Basingstoke site. Surely this should have prompted O2 to examine their own site security and backup.
I also think it is ridiculous that there is nothing on their website front page to advise customers of the problem. I know they spell it out on the blog page but not everyone knows about that.

I don't understand why the calls can't be diverted to voicemail at the very least and why there isn't some sort of back up system in place that doesnt take 12 and a half hours plus to kick in; especially after what happened with vodafone.
Been without phone now for 12 hours and as I work in a nightclub it's not exactly nice walking through east london at 2am on my own let alone without a working phone.
o2 needs to put this on their homepage, or at least a link to their blog. I had to sign up to the forum, then wait to be approved before I could find any of this out as I had no idea about the blog

indeed!
6am i started this thread, and wasn't until...12 or so that they actually notified us about the blog update and what had actually caused this outage. Perhaps due the police involvement that they couldn't say more? But certainly, it took a long long time to get any info.
