O2 are completely incompetent!!!

I cannot believe the problems i am having with O2! I am currently a pay and go customer and at the beginning of October they tried to talk me into having a contract! They sent me a rubbish phone (samsung fame) and i decided i did not want to take up the contract or the phone! I did lots of chasing them to find out how to return the handset within the cooling off period and sent it back to them. I then received a phone call nearly 2 weeks later to say they had not received the handset and i had to prove i had returned it or they would charge me £99 for the phone! I found my proof of postage and was advised to take it into my local O2 shop for them to fax a copy of it, which i did on Thursday! I was told by the man i have been dealing with that he would cancel everything and yet i have received an email this morning to say i have a bill of £6.41!! Unless i want to pay out even more money trying to ring customer services (as there online chat is too busy.......surprise, surprise) i seem to just keep going round in circles!! I just wanted to post this to share my disgust at the way O2 operate!! I have been a pay and go customer of theirs for years but due to this as soon as my credit is gone i will be swapping to another provider!! I cannot believe they are still in business!!

It sounds like they have billed you for the interim period before sending the phone back. If you didn't use the phone or contract then as you know, you will need to contact them again to get the charges rescinded. Not easy to do at the weekend!
