O2 Shop assistant very unhelpful

Anonymous
Not applicable

We've just visited the O2 shop in Chelmsford and found the assistant very condescending and unhelpful. As an O2 customer with 3 handsets (2 of which are soon up for renewal), I expected some courtesy and whilst he may not have been able to help me, just to have some sympathy with my problem would have been nice. I'll be looking at other providers going forward....

Hi

The earlier versions of iPhone is unlock able straight away.

If it's the 6 or 6 plus you have to pay off the handset plan on the refresh tariff before they will unlock.

Help link http://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-and-devices/unlocking-your-iphone-and-using-it-on-another-network

If the iPhone is locked to another network you'll need to follow that networks t&c for unlocking.

Apple won't unlock an iPhone that's currently locked to a network.

Ref bad service I would of asked to speak to the manager of the shop.

However some are not comfortable with face to face confrontation so either speak to O2 Customer Services. 202 for Contract. 4445 for PAYG and or send your thoughts to the complaint team using the link at the foot of the forum Page.

Such a shame when stories like this come up, personally the O2 staff in my local store are really really helpful when they can be, but however, sometimes when busy they obviously have less time to play with which I accept and respect that.
What problem are you having? Maybe members here can help.
Or if it's more account related they can certainly point you in the right direction to get your issues sorted.

Thank you! We bought a sim free unlocked phone and put an O2 sim in. We're now looking to change providers but the phone is locked and I don't know how to go about getting it unlocked. I've tried the O2 form online but o2 are saying that is Apple that are not allowing it. Do you know where do I go from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you got a new iPhone 6? If so...they can't be unlocked for 6 months as I understand it....?

Its difficult to advise further without knowing what phone...where you purchased it from.. and how old is the phone?....

The unlock process is here, as you bought your iPhone from elsewhere O2 should unlock it regardless of model http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-Services/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-SIM-ca...
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
