O2 NOT doing Pre-Orders On iPhone 4

Anonymous
Not applicable
Rumour is hitting Twitter and the internet blogs tonight that O2 CS and O2 are saying that they will NOT be doing pre-orders of the iPhone 4 as they do not have the product code on their system and customers will have to wait until June 24th and hope for the best.

Again this is just rumour and hope it is rubbish but if not then I will be furious as I am sure many others will be.

Not the end of the world I know but it will be one stupid scramble to get one and as per usual O2 will have a back order of them and god knows when we will get them.

Actually, I see the god knows when we will get them back order happening anyway :womanindifferent:

This was in an article on geeky-gadget.com, one of their reporters phoned the networks for info and apparently O2 confirmed that they will not be accepting pre-orders.

O2 also confirmed that if you want iPhone 4 on O2 then Carphone Warehouse will offer pre-order but did not confirm from when.

This is not going to do O2 any favours what so ever

Really validates my decision earlier today to buy SIM free direct from Apple.... I am currently on a £20/month simplicity tariff with unlimited data, which I'll use for now until the smoke clears and I can see what the best network deal turns out to be. If unlimited data on new plans truly has gone out the window then I can at least stick with what I've got!

Orange are not doing pre-orders either.

Sounds like Apple have got a 9 day exclusive to get their sales up before they start to lose to the UK networks.

I guess everyone tied to a network is out of luck

I can live without the ability to pre-order but it would be nice if the networks just coughed up the handset prices/tariffs then we can all make our own informed choices.

Totally agree.

If the leaked Vodafone prices are roughly right then I might get mine from Apple. I would have to buy my contract out at £440 and then whatever it would cost on the £45/£50 a month tariff to get the handset

o2 haven't done pre orders in the past and I don't see them doing them any time soon. Doesn't seem to have hurt them so far.

People said the same last year over the upgrade rules, didn't seem to do them any harm.
