O2 Guru

So, I was casually browsing the O2 site just now and discovered O2 Guru and the TV section!

http://www.o2.co.uk/guru

Why havent O2 made this resource more obvious? Videos and other resources for each phone! Its really good!

If you're having problems with your phone, make the link above one of your first ports of call.

Hey bandofbrothers,

A little bit of info on logout times.

This is short at the moment due to security reasons in regards to members registering with their MyO2 details.

We're currently working on a new and easier registration/sign-in process for everyone which will allow us to lengthen the log in timeout time to whatever is best. How much time would you think would be sufficient for a log in timeout? On some sites its 3 hours, some its a day, some its permanent until you sign out. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Toby

Good Morning Toby,

I can obviously only speak for myself but the thread I highlighted does have other members wanting the same.

I normally have around 8 tabs open on my iPhone visiting this and other forums so generally flick between them as you do throughout the day.

Not to mention quite a few on my MBA.

By the time I've made posts/threads in the others and gotten back to the Community Forum I've been logged out !

@Thank heavens for the tweak Double @ where I can input my login details with a double tap of the '@" button.

I understand the situation regarding the My02 App and Account security with security taking the primary role here :

Due to this perhaps a day is pushing it as most users probably forget to log out.

I'm thinking more like 1-2 hours tops !

Any news on the other two subjects I highlighted.

Hi Bandofbrothers, the latest update we had is that training is ongoing. As for the session time out, 1-2 hours is very reasonable and once the development has been implemented we can certainly fix the cookies. Please bear with us, the deployment has been taking far longer than expected, we will give plenty of notice before we go live. What else are we missing?

Are you two double teaming me ?   lol

Ok while i've got your attention.  wink

I and others really miss the Rich Editor Bar whilst in the mobile version of the site.

I'm mostly on the fly and am not always in front of a Mac.

It has been explained previously why and its on the cards to look at etc and that its being looked into. And then communication stopped.

Some of the forums I help run and frequent all have this facility !

02 Community Forums had  this facility and simply disappeared which I understand is Lithium caused.

Just trying to confuse you wink

Point taken re: Rich Editor. I can't promise it'll be looked into in the next few weeks as we are already going through some technical changes that have been proven more challenging than expected, but I've taken notes. Feel free to poke me again though.

Can I just chime in and add my tuppence worth about the login timing?

As an internet veteran, its always useful if a website/forum remembers your username and password, it means you dont need to login every time you visit. I'm forever forgetting passwords for sites I dont visit very often.

However, because the login for this forum is linked to MyO2 and therefore all of our account details, as Toby mentions, there is a huge security problem should the forums always keep us logged in.

The convenience of it being linked doesnt need explained, especially since it means new people can post on the forums easily and more frequently. I dont know what could be done to maintain the ease of login between MyO2 and the Community but also allow their separation, if you understand what I mean?

Whilst we are on the subject of My O2, the links on the mobile app for the community & gurus etc. seem to have disappeared over the last few weeks. Is this a known issue or do I need to uninstall and reinstall the app?
