Hi all, not sure where to post this or whether I’m just over cautious, but having been with o2 for the past 9 years I’ve never had a text like this:

You've been sent a media message from +447947377638. View it at www.o2.co.uk/m/ by typing in your mobile number and pin: kuzz11

(Changed some digits on the off chance it’s legit)

When clicking the link it takes you to what appears to be an outdated version of the o2 site, with 2012 dated at the bottom. Clicking on links in the above tabs takes you to today’s website, however there is a few links to help pages at the side which simply reload the page. Thoughts?

I thought as much. It only asks for your mobile number and the given code which I thought was odd and not sure what they could gain from that? Also when attempting to add contact from the message itself, no number shows

That was the first thing that I thought to do but I can’t find any number from whoever it is that sent it that’s what got me thinking. It just has the heading where there would normally be a number of “o2_Alert” 😕

@F56JCW

If your making changes to your O2 Account on your MyO2 App and it will need to send you the code.

This is the first message if it's from O2

*FRAUD ALERT - MUST READ* Has someone called you and asked for a code? Hang up. They DO NOT work for O2 and are trying to commit fraud on your O2 account. Never give a one-time code to anyone who called you. Call us on 202 if you need help. If you requested a code yourself, we'll be texting it to you shortly.

Then the Code follows a minute after.

Definitely a Scam. I'd report it and then delete.

It's a genuine O2 alert that you have received a mms

Possibly you have mobile data off and are using wifi or your phone isn't set up for mms

Don't worry, it's not a scam @F56JCW
