No Signal

So I got my first iPhone with O2 refresh after having Samsung GT5830, and love the phone, but why is it that I can't get signal, even tho I had no such problem with my old Samsung.
Don't get me wrong realise as I live in a village in Norfolk I'm not gonna get 3 or 4g, but even setting the phone to 2g, I cannot get signal, occasionally able to make calls, never receive calls, or text messages, received 3 late the other nite that had been sent more than a week b4, nice as it is to be able to do most things on my home wifi why am I having to pay for 5gigs of data, and free unlimited texts and calls when I can't use them.
I am almost totally house bound apart from essential travel to doctors etc!
Does anyone else find this as upsetting as I do?

Check your postcode for any local signal issues here http://status.o2.co.uk/
If that is OK try the other help mentioned here http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Self-help-guide-Is-the-network-down-for-me-or-ev...

and if still no good, contact Apple for a diagnostic check on phone.

Have you tried using TuGo? http://www.o2.co.uk/apps/tu-go

No offense intended, but if you're mainly housebound, why do you need 5 gigs of data? Seems a waste if you're on your computer at home most of the time.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
