I would guess some management consultant thinks he's being clever devising this tactic to reduce the number of calls.

If anything this is going to backfire on them once the new "best companies" list comes out.

I can understand reducing call volume but the ones who probally need the most help(technophobes) are the ones who this will hurt the most. They're also the more Likly candidates to make official complaints.
