I noticed this on the Thinkbroadband website posted just after midnight, and when I checked I found my O2 number was indeed being sent to web sites visited.
Judging by the O2 Twitter feed I would say they are well aware of this issue!

It is possible to avoid this leak by altering your data connection settings to use the username "bypass" rather than "o2web" - The bypass username bypasses o2's HTTP proxying, which prevents the phone number leak as well as stopping the image compression they normally carry out.

This is a real concern for me. O2 need to act now and resolve this serious issue.

looks like they have fixed the issue on idata my number is no longer showing on the checker
