Mobile Broadband - Connection Manager not connecting to dongle

Anonymous
Not applicable

Following WINDOWS 7 UPDATE number KB2884256 sent around October 2013, the O2 Mobile Broadband Connection Manager software was not able to connect to my dongle (Huawei E160).

Reinstalling the Connection Manager failed to solve the problem.

Also, it is NOT possible to remove update KB2884256.

Solution is to reload the dongle device driver, from the dongle:

1. Connect dongle to PC

2. Open Start menu, select "Devices and Printers"

3. Right click on the dongle icon, in my case "HUAWEI Mobile"

4. Select "Troubleshoot"

5. Select "Reload device driver" when prompted.

Hopefully this will help others avoid the wasted time and frustration I experienced.

Glad you fixed it, but re-installing the device drivers is the first thing to do when a hardware device fails.

We might have been able to save you some time if you had asked here first.

This should have appeared as an error in Device Manager.
