‘Like new’ Samsung galaxy 23 doesn’t have genuine Samsung parts

We bought a like new Samsung galaxy s23 phone in June 2024 on a 3 year pay monthly contract, described on the o2 online site as like new. So the expectation is that it’s genuine Samsung with genuine Samsung parts. You’d think, right ?
It’s always been a bit temperamental but recently started switching off and not rebooting.  We’ve had it looked at by an independent phone technician and it turns out all three camera components are not Samsung components and all three are different brands !!! Because they are not compatible they have been shorting out the phone hence it switching off.  It all started when little cracks appeared in the back glass around the cameras, most likely caused due to incompatible components. The technician said he’d never seen anything like it.
I rang O2 customer service who just tell me to take it in to an O2 store and they can’t seem to understand that I’m really angry at being sold a ‘Samsung’ that isn’t a proper Samsung. And to add insult to injury there is still another £440 to pay for the device on the contract !!
Has anyone else come across this ?

@Beetledoggy

You need to persevere with O2 as you have been sold a faulty phone.

Best bet is to contact O2 via social media  who are UK based

Message O2 on Facebook (  https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (X)(  https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (  https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help.

@Beetledoggy As well as the advice from @Cleoriff you might want to look at at O2's Terms & Conditions regarding nearly new devices. They may have a 'Get Out of Jail Free' clause in there. If there isn't one, I'd get what your independent phone technician told you in writing and inform O2 you're going to take legal advice.

Edit: I looked myself. I think you may be out of luck: Like New Terms and Conditions | O2

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Phone should still be in warranty with Samsung, worth a check with them first, in case they have some models that do use different parts for whatever reason, @Beetledoggy - https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/warranty/

And the official O2 line probably won't differ from this: https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/like-new

For info: I have had little joy with any of the phone resellers (O2, Phones4U (defunct)) after the first month has passed wrt cosmetic issues on new phones (years ago with the HTC One mini, the plastic around buttons on side of phone started to crack in first 2 weeks, and then these spread to the top and rear of the phone - there was a lot of finger-pointing between the resellers and HTC in that debacle: https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Archive/HTC-One-Mini-Cracks-in-Housing/td-p/1822174/page/4

So follow advice of @Cleoriff and also try the Samsung site above - if you have a Samsung shop handy, take it in there and let them take a look at it, like-new or not, it should have had the correct Samsung parts fitted if it was traded back to O2 with evidence of damage in that area.
