Thought I would mention this here as a standalone topic.
Knowledge Base guides are being produced with current updated information.
The forum still has Index of Help guides available...which are all in one place and easy to find HERE
Problem is, some of the Index guides are outdated...but the format for finding them (in one section) is better than finding KB guides which are all over the place
Two suggestions
1) When a guide is updated the link should take us directly to the new KB guide
2) The KB guides.. when completed, should go in one easy to find section
Just asking for opinions...?

Yep, we'll definitely put KB content in there too guys. Some guides have not been converted into KB articles also, so we will review those, see what needs to be updated and add them if necessary.
Get involved:
• New to the community? This is how you get help.
• Want to know who we are? Come and say hi to us.
• Want to have a chat? Drop me a direct message.

@CleoriffI didn't know that index by @MI5 existed when I was asked to create a guide to expand on the one made by@gmarkj, otherwise I'd have let him know too when I created it so he could link if he wished.
IMHO, updating guides ought not to be the responsibility of just one person. They also ought to be more easily found, as others have said.
A wiki is the best way to do it. That way certain of the forum members could be given editing rights, and anyone who wanted could ask for them. The guides would be more likely to be lept up to date as it would be updating rather than re-writing. It would also mean the end to posts saying well done, which I would imagine anyone new looking in might find a bit odd in a how-to guide.
Even if it were done alongside the use of Lithium for the community, a wiki system for how-to articles would seem to make a lot of sense.

@MI5didn't write all the guides. (he did a lot but not all)
What he did do was take every guide available at the time and create one large Index. He then added new guides to this Index as and when produced. Some of them are a little outdated and others are still current.
Fast forward 3 years and Knowledge Base guides are the order of the day. Absolutely fine. All current
Problem is they are all over the place.
They have yet to be amalgamated into the old Index...or even a new Index. They require a search.
For instance I have produced one guide only. Suddenly its in 2 formats.. Ways to Pay (Old Index) + How to Pay my Bill (KB) I can find one...I can't find the other.
I came from a background where I was responsible for ensuring every ward and department had up to date guidelines ensuring good clinical practice. These were updated annually (or before, if changes in drugs or equipment were developed and became part of that regime)
When the new practices were updated the old ones were removed.
They had to be approved by senior staff.before issued to relevant areas. . .
As for free editing I wasn't here when that was part of the community system.
Personally I feel free editing should only be available to the person who produced the guide (maybe controversial) but surely if they produced the guide they should be the first person in line to change/update it. Common courtesy after all.
This is supposing they want to do it ...If they are no longer interested or have left O2 then someone else should be asked to take responsibility.
All that aside... the priority is getting KB guides into the index, replacing outdated ones and making them easily accessible to all (in my humble opinion of course)
