I have seen so many threads Go of track.

these O2 community  threads are all about self help I urge all poster to keep the banter in the correct areas of the forum and only answer genuine questions in the correct place .

i see so many threads hijacked and the op never responds.

some of us have been helping for ages  for no reward drop the kudos, solutions to questions is the true proof of help.

i am not having a pop at people but I have had enough of the kudos issue.

I personally do not think it is appropriate for you to post this and you would have been better placed messaging Leonard or Toby with your grievances

I must admit I had previously apologised to Adam for derailing threads.

I didn't consider it would annoy anyone:(

You could look at it at "derailing" but equally you could say that it keeps the thread to the top of the list and provides more exposure. I don't see why you would need to apologise for it?

Indeed you could look at it that way:) I prefer that way of thinking haha.

If I inadvertently annoy someone and I know it I will apologise just because I'm the fine upstanding gentleman I am grin

I'm actually with Adam on this. Though in some cases its just the nature of posts that take it off-track sometimes.

I would suggest that once a solution is marked then the thread is closed/locked as we all know some hijack the thread with their own agenda.

Good idea sheepdog, as long as someone with some sense could check the post was correctly marked as solved first. Otherwise we would just get repeat threads starting up all over the place.....

I think sheepdog is spot on with regard to once a solution has been found then the thread should be closed to stop others from reopening it. Maybe there could be a way to click on that thread and add it to your post.

For example. A new poster comes in and finds a post that is relevent to there situation but does not get the solution to there personal issue. A bit like a copy and paste button but that highlights it as a old post with the new posters question underneath.

My issue with the OP is that by writing this post you are alienating themselves against the other posters and making a deal out of something that could have been dealt with via the mods.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone.

Over the last few months, off-topic discussions have very much increased in popularity. It's good to have such a place, as it can be a nice to take a break from helping people and just relax. Personally, I think the activity is a very good sign of a vibrant and active community that is having fun together, which is really great.

Threads and discussions evolve and form themselves as they go along. As a result, discussions on a forum will always have an off topic element to them.

As we're all adults here, I'd suggest talking to each other whenever you feel things are going too far off-topic. If you feel moderation action is needed , you can always use the inappropriate content link. However, just PM'ing each other seems a lot friendlier and I'm sure everyone here is open to feedback. slight_smile

Cheers,
Leonard
