Is it possible to have my online account deleted?

Anonymous
Not applicable
I left O2 this week to move to another network, and would like my online account to be removed from the O2 systems.
Been told by Customer Support that this can't be done, it will do it automatically after 180 days. However, I no longer have a contract with O2 - there is no reason to keep my account active and there must be a way of this being removed.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

You might need it in the future to access previous statements. Personally I would want them available should any query arise and 180 days may be too short.

I won't need them to access in the future.
It's just a data thing really, they have no need to have my information any more - so therefore it should be my choice to have that data deleted.

You do realise that business records need to be kept for at least 3 years and up to 10years for some information?
So the information will be there for some time after your account is 'deleted'

o2 can't delete your online login. The reason for this is that it links in directly with your now closed account.

Yes, your online account will automatically get deleted if you stop using it for 180 days. Just stop accessing that account for 180 days and it'll get deleted.
But, the above statement is not valid in regards to your billing account.
