If you are getting SPAM sms you may like this!

I've been having a lot of fun doing this all week I must confess. I've reported them all! Evil . I'm sick and tired of getting PPI,Casino,etc... sms all the time!

Mobile users who receive SPAM messages (PPI, Accident Claims etc) can report the text messages to 7726.

Information from all mobile operators is collated and O2 can see which of our customers are being reported as being the originator of SPAM messages.

Sending SPAM messages is against O2’s terms and conditions 6.3 (e) and 8.1:
6.3 You must not use or permit anyone else to use the Service: (e) to persistently send automated unsolicited communications (including SMS spam).
8.1 As well as any other rights we have, we can end the Agreement and/or a Related Agreement at any time, with immediate effect if: (d) you're in breach of paragraphs 6.3 (a)-(e) or you persistently behave in a way that would allow us to bar your SIM Card in accordance with paragraph 7 of this Agreement.

We’re sending letters to customers who have been reported as sending SPAM giving them 30 days’ notice of disconnection.

What does this mean ?
Customers who have been identified as sending SPAM messages will be given 30 days’ notice of disconnection. They will then, after the 30 days, be disconnected and termination fees will be applied as appropriate.

If there is new info in here @Anonymous maybe it could be added to the guide Adam Temperton did which is currently in use. What do you think?

It's good to see that O2 are doing this as I believe they have for quite a while now.

I'm sure the spam levels would be much higher if it weren't for this.

Fine by me. This was all released end of April. Some things already existed, I think the main difference is the Network's approach. Before you could send the sms but you never really knew what for or what would happen but now It's as simple as this, send spam txt and we will disconnect you!

Assuming the texts in question originate from an o2 number......?
What about the ones sent from a computer programme or a foreign network?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

No idea! They still ask you to report it even if it's a link,so something must happen...?!

The networks do share inf about these numbers, so the other network numbers also get into trouble... no idea if the sanctions are the same but they cant be that different...

As far as I can tell all this info is accumulated by the ICO who use it to take action against these firms.
