How to keep my old phone 02 number for my new iPho...

I am waiting for delivery of my new iPhone, but was informed, a day later, after purchase, I will receive a new number. I do not want a new phone number, just my old 02 number, how can I make this happen? My old phone number was a pay as you go number and the new one is part of my monthly contract
