Hours waiting the phone/live chat trying to speak to someone!

I bought a new sim only contract and want to transfer my phone number from the old contract to the new sim card, but I can't get through to anyone on the phone or live chat. I only have time after 7:30pm and the phone line closes at 9pm. I spent hours waiting on two phone lines (both my landline and mobile) and online chat to the customer service, but I can't get to speak to anyone. After 9pm I continued to use online chat but it keeps saying "We're really busy right now. Thanks for waiting." At 11pm I gave up.

 

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this company? Could any one call me back to deal with this? Otherwise, I will have to send my new sim only card back and switch to another company.

Very minimal staff here I'm afraid just us customers to sort what mess we can.

It's a joke. I finally got through to someone at 8 minutes to 9pm. The chap took my all details and said he would now transfer me to another department to get this done. I listened to 5mins music then a voice said "The line is now closed, please call back tomorrow." I am speechless.

This is rapidly becoming an all too typical O2 Customer Service scenario. The OP can only phone when CS is probably very busy. Has to be very frustrating. I hope they can get this sorted without too much more hassle.

Yes, I am still trying at 22:10pm via online chat. My contract ends on Thursday so I don't want to pay another 20 pounds next Month. I asked O2 to cancel my contract as I am sick of O2 now. But they told me I need to give 30 days notice. Don't ask me why I left it the last minute. I didn't. I gave cancellation notice 30 days ago using online chat service as I don't have time during the day to phone up. But they just cut off my service there and then. Then I had to phone customer service to restore my account. I was told on the phone I won't need to give notice again because I already did 30 days ago. Now I am told by the chat staff they don't have the record of it! It's a joke.
