Honor 7

Hi guys, bit of a basic question but im in need of some clarification. I'm wanting to buy the UK version of the honor 7 direct from huawei. Quite simply- will it work on the o2 networkwith 4G?

My understanding is that o2 use the 800mhz frequency band, which does not seem to be supported when looking at the honor 7's specs https://www.vmall.eu/uk/honor-7-grey-281214/, but then equally it says it supports band 20 which is what o2 uses right?

If someone could explain how it works that would be hugely appreciated as im confused as to which phones i can and cant buy. The oneplus 2 for example, does not mention 800mhz but then does work on 4g because it supports band 20. Are mhz and bands diffferent things or what?

Thanks very much in advance

James

I was disappointed to see this hadn't been definitely addressed by O2 but instead left to the Community.

I just had this exchange with one of O2's Gurus (I've edited out the 'please wait's etc.):

Me: Will a new Huawei Honor 7 work in uk on O2?

Guru: I've checked with our technical team and they have confirmed that this handset won't work on our network

Me: ...how about the Xiaomi Mi 5 please?

Guru: If the phone is unlocked then it'll work on our network.

I hope this helps.

This is a community forum which isn't monitored by O2 so you won't get any input from O2 on here officially.

Also, when quoting phones it's important to mention model numbers as some devices could work in UK and others not. Just saying "Honor 7" won't get a definitive answer if there is more than one model number for example.

It will work on O2 in the UK.

O2 uses 900 and 1800 for 2g

900 and 2100 for 3g

800 and 1800 for 4g

The Honor 7 Europe version can work with:

850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 for 2g

900 / 1900 / 2100 for 3g

LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800) for 4g
