HTC Desire 20 Meg Update

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have had an update come through today but it will not install. The download works fine but my phone hangs after rebooting and I have to go into the recovery menu to reboot the phone. I'm on O2 and the Phone has not been rooted.
Can anyone offer any assistance?

It seems at the moment that HTC are calling some phones in for repair but you may get more news from the O2 Ireland forum where there is far more staff input.

UPDATE 3 (from HTC)
The update is intended for UK users as well as German users, If your phone is locked to the O2 network, they are in charge of your update not HTC.

They also asked me to reset my phone to factory settings. I haven't bothered with that as it hasn't helped anyone else.
I think the update has disappeared from the "System Update" list. I did a "Check Now" and it said "No Updates Available".
Strange.

The update has indeed disappeared which is second best to a fix I suppose. At least we can forget about it.

Final Message from HTC (after I sent them the zip containing all the update files)
The update is nothing to do with HTC and is completely your networks responsibility to send this to your phone.
I advise contacting O2 technical support (not normal customer services) and enquire about the update.

So someone at O2 cocked up, and then realised what they'd done and removed it from the update schedule, leaving customers hanging with frozen phones and providing them with no updates, assurances or apologies.
Thanks O2!

It's back, but with a new problem. 😞
It needs 25meg free to ínstall but I only have 16meg available on my Desire. The only way I could free up another 9meg was by removing the Market and Gmail upgrades.
Firmware now in, but only 9meg spare with the Market and Gmail upgrades back in. I'm not happy.

Is it worth it? What's in the upgrade?

Can anyone say what the upgrade consists of?

Just tried to download & install it again. Exactly the same problem as before. 😞

Mine worked. It's a fix for texts going to the wrong recipient.
