HTC Desire 20 Meg Update

I have had an update come through today but it will not install. The download works fine but my phone hangs after rebooting and I have to go into the recovery menu to reboot the phone. I'm on O2 and the Phone has not been rooted.
Can anyone offer any assistance?

I've got the same problem, phone just displays phone icon with red ! in a red triangle.
Does this mean it's doing it or not doing it.
Popped the battery and restarted.

Same problem here. I had to press volume up and the power button at the same time to reboot. Tried downloading the update again, same thing happened again. Bah.

Same here! Gets 25% complete and goes to red triangle. Volume up and power button shows a script saying the zip file is corrupt. Come on o2 sort it out.

I’m having this problem too!!!
I suppose the one blessing is that at least it hasn’t bricked my phone like the froyo update. Literally went through 4 desire replacements from o2 until that upgraded successfully.
Anyone have any idea what this update is for? And, would o2 replace my handset based on this update failing?
Any help/advice appreciated

+1 :robotsad:
Got a update available message it then downloads something and reboots. The attempt to install it fails with a red triangle with an exclamation mark in it.
I have to reboot the phone (volume up + power).
Any ideas what this is supposed to be?
The file is: OTA_Bravo_Froyo_O2_DE_2.29.207.4-2.14.207.3_R_release_224401sbtbh2vu2z28jv22.zip
Returned Status 7 Installation Aborted.
Also whatever this is, it is not Gingerbread or Ice-cream Sandwich so I am not getting that excited!
It is not a free space problem as I deleted some apps and had 34.5Mb Internal Storage and it still failed.

It appears to be failing a check of a string "ro.cid". A search around the Interweb shows that the update is checking it is valid for my phone and failing.
My phone was from O2 direct, however when O2 were messing around releasing Android 2.2 I went and got the RUU from O2 Germany and installed it myself. Though I see the O2 screens when I turn it on I wonder if the update (from UK O2) thinks that my phone is not a UK O2 phone any more? Is there anyway I can check this from the Software Versions page for example?
I am sure I have had at least one update in the past though since adding 2.2 myself...

I've got the exact same problem, only now Market doesn't work for me after trying to apply the update.
Update downloads, phone resets and it then gets to about 25% and fails with the above error code (Status 7).
This really does take the michael a bit as there has been now comment or acknowledgement from O2 AT ALL...
Any help would be appreciated.

Just to clear it up for you CJP my desire has had nothing but standard OTA updates as far as I know.
Has anyone discussed this with o2? Might try calling them tomorrow to see if the acknowledge the problem.
Will keep you posted of their response.

Yup - exactly the same here. The update downloaded fine, rebooted, gets to around 25% and now just the picture of the phone and the warning triangle...
This is only the 2nd OTA update I've had, the first bricked my phone and had to send it back - hopefully this isn't a repeat of that 😐
