I have been hacked yesterday Friday. The scammers pretended to offer a merging of my O2 and my Virgin Media accounts at a slightly lower price on a renewed contract.
)2 does not offer any 24/7 support if this happens. I am extremely wary of scammers these days, but this time, they managed to get me. When I become suspicious, it is stressful when one cannot get a human being. I have cancelled Direct Debits, but because it was almost the end of hours and I didn't have security details on me, I vcouldn't speak to a human being at O2 in time yesterday, and even today I have failed to reach them, thinking that since nothing had happened on the account it wasn't necessary. But then there were strange messages and new contracts sent to my account email, which account had been taken over and password changed.
The scam 2nd contact email they seemed to have added to my account is o2_supprt__team**Personal info**
which is where the additional link is sebnt, so I've effected lost control.
I would like to criticise companies like O2 and VM in the strongest possible terms for abandoning clients when they need to speak to them, and for having poor telephone service anyway. The chat bot AI was truly rubbish for 2025.
So what to do? It would be a basic courtesy for O2 to be available now as all this happens.

If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud – whether it’s because you’ve given details to someone over the phone, or clicked on a link in a suspicious text or email there are things you can do:
Contact your bank if you think you may have given out financial information. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.
Change your account and online account passwords. Not just your O2 account. All of them.
Forward fraudulent texts to O2 for free on 7726.
Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
Call your Virgin Media or O2 customer services number if you think somebody’s taken out a contract using your details.
Virgin Media customers can phone 150 from their landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.
O2 customers can call 202 from their O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.
You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.
