Feedback: giffgaff achieve Which? Award 2014

Anonymous
Not applicable

I see giffgaff got the Which? Best Telecoms Provider award for 2014.  Is it too much to hope O2 will take note and try to learn a few lessons?

giffgaff certainly appear to have a more flexible attitude to Pay & Go tarfiffs - I have just received a free SIM from them and have initially topped up with a £10 goody bag which I am using in my standby mobile  - a Galaxy S2 ( the one that O2 tried to tell me was worthless because they claim the screen is damaged (no one I have shown it to has been able to detect any fault.)

If I should have posted this  in the Off Topic section - please forgive.

Gerry

(I have just noticed my online bank statement shows the vendor of the goodybag as Gift Gaff)

The other problem on giffgaff is that their are too many duplicate topics and posts. Also if moderators close off a specific post, somebody will come along and start up a new post around the same topic. Thus leading to duplicate posts. Also some of their topics can drag on and some people are not willing to read through all the posts to get the info, so a new topic is created. This is from my experience as a giffgaff user. But having said that, their some very helpful folks on their who know their stuff.

@iar1980. I totally agree with your last comment regarding knowledgeable posters on the giffgaff forum.

However, if you joined there with limited skills in technology...how on earth would you know which were the best advisors?

I do find a classic problem there (and many other forums) is when you get someone who knows their stuff...posts an absolute top rate answer...then others feel the need to rock up just to post exactly the same thing...but say it differently (as if its another idea) Shocked

However, as I say, that is something that happens everywhere...(but annoys the heck out of me!)

In a situation where a rewards system is in place there are bound to be people who abuse it. It has happened on here but to a lesser extent than on the giffgaff forum. Thankfully it seems to have been sorted out to a large extent on here but it is obvious and easy to spot when it does happen.

Having read the various contributions to this thread I am now considering writing to Which suggesting they consult the O2 Community before publishing next year's awards.   They might learn something useful.

I have to say that I do like the £5 credited to my giffgaff account eveytime I pass on a son or they order through a personal link. I only took out a goodybag last month for the first time and I'm already £15 in credit!:smileyhappy:

Yeah I've noticed a member can use a personal link so if another person orders a giffgaff SIM card and tops it up then they earn £5 and so does the member the link belongs to.

I seem to remember Virgin mobile used to add £5 of credit to get one started too.
