Feedback: giffgaff achieve Which? Award 2014

Anonymous
Not applicable

I see giffgaff got the Which? Best Telecoms Provider award for 2014.  Is it too much to hope O2 will take note and try to learn a few lessons?

giffgaff certainly appear to have a more flexible attitude to Pay & Go tarfiffs - I have just received a free SIM from them and have initially topped up with a £10 goody bag which I am using in my standby mobile  - a Galaxy S2 ( the one that O2 tried to tell me was worthless because they claim the screen is damaged (no one I have shown it to has been able to detect any fault.)

If I should have posted this  in the Off Topic section - please forgive.

Gerry

(I have just noticed my online bank statement shows the vendor of the goodybag as Gift Gaff)

To be honest running my Note2 on O2 and loan phones on giffgaff I have noticed no difference in coverage or signal. Not saying it doesn't happen but I've certainly not experienced a difference in my areas.

All equal for me too but I guess location and network loading could play a part in it.

I think gg also have traffic management enabled now so this will effect some users too.....

@Anonymous An old antiquated Nokia could possibly be a 2G only phone which would invariably give a stronger Call signal than a 3G phone would (but at the expense of data capability)......

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Is their any way we can have a network queries section set up like other providers such as vodafone?

In the long term o2 and vodafone will be sharing phone masts, so will have a near identical network.

It will at least keep us in the loop of unplanned and planned maintenance/issues....

Well after reading from some of you about people over there posting for post counts I tried something yesterday.

In an old post dated February 2013 I posted saying "Welcome to the forum " yesterday to a user.

Since then 8 people have rocked up saying the same.

wink

@Anonymous   I presume you are saying that the person you welcomed joined in Feb 2013 and you just picked that post at random to check what would happen?

Funnily enough I looked at that forum again last night....I notice besides kudos...posts have star ratings?

What's that all about?Shocked

Morning @Cleoriff

Yes that's exactly what I did to see if it panned out that way.

Sure enough it did.

I was hit by 8 separate e mails this morning regarding the replies.

Kudo's and Star Ratings don't hold water over there I think.

The star rating is to give it a low ~ high rating which is something similar to what was on MacRumors which was removed due to abuse.

I certainly am not knocking the giffgaff forum as I know little about it.

I have, however browsed it many times and find the layout quite confusing

If the star rating is irrelevant (as you say) then why do they show it?

I think their kudos system came in for a bit of an overhaul according to someone I know who posts there regularly.....some posts were getting 6-7 kudos for quite tame answers. It seemed to be a bit cliquey

It made me wonder what algorithm giffgaff use to give out their rewards?RolleysConfused

The other problem on giffgaff is that their are too many duplicate topics and posts. Also if moderators close off a specific post, somebody will come along and start up a new post around the same topic. Thus leading to duplicate posts. Also some of their topics can drag on and some people are not willing to read through all the posts to get the info, so a new topic is created. This is from my experience as a giffgaff user. But having said that, their some very helpful folks on their who know their stuff.
