Experia U Free Sony Bluetooth speaker promotion

On 14/9/12 I applied for the free speaker promotion emailed Sony twice over the Last few weeks And got no reply. 

 

Is there a reliable method of contacting them to see when will get it?

Hi

 

i applied for the sony bluetooth speaker on the 15/9/12 and i still have not received the speaker. I have emailed them several times and when i did get a response it was are very vague or incorrect.  

 

I was given a number to call but that was the 'wrong department'. I was then given a number to call the 'sony promotion team'.(this is now costing me to call sony).   i was told there was a 'high demand' for the offer so had to wait.........and i am still waiting!!  This information could have been relayed to me via email. Obviously this is poor customer service.

The chat option is no good.....they are the technical support team so calling the Sony promotion team is the best option!!

Hello All,

 

I have ordered a Sony xperia P on a new contract, although it does not match your phone the offer was pretty much open to all xperia phones.

 

Now I too have submitted my details to Sony's page on the 13/09/2012, Now that it is 11/12/2012, it has been way over 28 working days for "validation" and way over 30 working days for "delivery".

 

Now I have called Sony Promotions twice up on this number: 08450 535 335, 

"Customer support" was rude and unhelpful, First they claimed that I haven't waited long enough and that I should expect a delivery on the 15/11/2012. (never happened)

Then they claimed that the speakers were out of stock and that they do not know when they'd be back in stock, plus they pointed out quite proudly that they didn't "work at the warehouse". 

 

I vaguely remember that the offer was only available whilst stocks lasted (terms and conditions) and well, there isn't any left, I doubt I'd ever receive the "free speakers" anyway.

 

Although it was free, I feel that it was misleading on o2's/Sony's part since I wouldn't have gone ahead with the contract if I knew that they weren't going to give out any free speakers apart from say the one lucky person in the UK. 

 

In the end the offer did look too good to be true and well I have given up on trying to pursue it. I'd much rather see what trading standards and the ASA say since at least they reply to emails.

 

Sony Promotions email is defunct, it's pretty much useless since they've only replied to me 1 month after my initial email. - At least a got a response I suppose, even though it was unhelpful.

I am still in pursuit of the speaker, called Sony promotion team again today and was told that it was in the post and was sent out a couple of days ago and should get it by mid next week. I asked where it was coming from, she said from 'Ludlow' and could not understand the delay of still another week!!! Excuse was it's Christmas so expect delays...omg more excuses!!

 

I think O2 should not be allowed to promote free stuff and then say it's subject to availability. It is misleading the customer to take out a contract( on impulse of listening to the demo speaker in store). O2 should be liable to compensate the customer's grief for several phones calls made and unanswered emails etc!!

 

Still hopefully it will be here by next week...

I hope yours does get sent through, now I did submit my details a day before yours and well they should be released at the same time for delivery.

 

However, "Christmas" is not an excuse even if sent via royal mail 2nd class, I have ordered a mouse from Amazon on Sunday(9/12/12) and it arrived on Tuesday. This was using super saver delivery. 

 

Now Sony Promotions said they were using couriers such as city-link and UK-Mail which is a lie since those particular couriers deliver most of their consignments within 3 Working days. 


I suspect they're using TNT post. TNT post are notoriously slow, any letters sent via TNT post take 10 Working days or so to reach me. 

However I suspect Sony promotions are giving scripted statements now.

 

"Just one more week sir/madam" + any variations that they said they sent it out a few days ago.

 

Next week when it doesn't arrive

 

"It's out of stock, please call back next week"

 

The week after

I am only saying this since they said that I would receive it by mid-November and well the speaker never materialised.

 

It's a shame since I liked the xperia phones. Maybe a nexus phone or a samsung phone when my current contract ends.

Just food for thought:

I realised that there are two main colour variations of this free speaker, white/green and black/blue. Now the ones they're giving away is white/green.

 

I prefer black/blue since it looks much better. 

I guess this is one way to get rid of unwanted stock (which I suspect are the white/green ones since it doesn't look so good in comparison).

hello all

 

WOW........just received the speaker in the post this morning.

 

Sony should invest in training for 'customer service'.....if this area improves then Sony would be 'ace'. I really like their products,  just shame on the lack of good quality customer service.

Urgh...youre def lucky then, i also received mine this morning....except they sent a wireless docking system for an iphone instead.... really not much use im guessing when i own an xperia....
