Hi everyone, just registered to ask if anyone else had been told this? Tried to upgrade today, Am on a £35 per month tarrif reduced to £20 with a loyalty discount, the bloke on the phone told me o2 are stopping loyalty discounts and from my contract renewal my bill would go up to £35 again! Looking elsewhere now!

That's right, its the same with all networks. A discount is now only valid for the length of the contract.

When you upgrade, they base what they can offer on your average spend.
If they gave you a £400 phone, with the maximum discount they can offer you, then the deal you get the next time you upgrade will be worse, especially if you only payed £20 a month.
Besides, it sounds as though you spoke with upgrades, try speaking with retentions, they may be able to offer you a discount, it's unlikely they will be able to offer you the £15 discount though.

Ta for the replies guys! I did eventually ring retentions and was lucky to get a great chap on the other end, he offered me an excellent deal on an iphone but unfortunately they were out of stock, its a shame that I will have to go throught this all again to re-barter the deal, wonder why I couldnt have got that deal there and then and waited for the phone!?!

The phone wouldn't have been on back order. It rarely is.
