Don't hold your breath waiting for DHL to deliver your phone

Ordered new phone late Wednesday.
Selected Friday as delivery day.
All OK
Friday came - checked DHL website - tracking facility unavailable.Waited in like a good boy. No delivery
Friday evening rang o2 - parcel delayed "due to bad weather"
Parcel is in Dartford - 6 miles from here - decent weather yesterday if not a bit cloudy.
DHL website back up today - no further information
Rang DHL's 0844 number - 15 mins in queue
Bad weather, can't even give an estimate - check Monday or Tuesday - may not arrive until the end of next week.
Just as well I don't need the phone (Xmas pressie) in a hurry.
Rant over (feel better for that)

I think you have to realise that courier companies have huge backlogs, vehicles in the wrong place and still have some staffing difficulties.
I know how infuriating it is, I've been there. However, I'd rather that I was given the true position rather than an overly optimistic estimate.

Think thats bad? I've had a parcel waiting for pickup by HDNL since monday and waiting for a parcel from Amazon from 3rd December. Thing is, where I am there is no bad weather which adds to the frustration when some items appear that were ordered this week.

I ordered my upgrade on 3rd December but on the day it was due to be delivered, the online tracker said 'Delayed due to adverse weather,' BEFORE it started snowing! I checked online this after noon to find DHL have said they tried to deliver last night, which is a LIE! My parents were in and they never left a card. This was from Monday 6th Dec (ordered on Friday 3rd) so handsets due to be delivered later in the week face quite a wait I'd say.
Called in twice to O2 to complain, I was told a manager will not speak to me as 'It is not a manager call'... despite me demanding to speak with a manager (surely MAKING it a manager call?!) and best I could be given was a call back in 48 hours.
It's given me time to look elsewhere and I can save money by going to Orange as I'm still within in my 14 day cooling off period. Who wants to stay with a company who makes it their managers policy to ignore their customers?!

The UK was full of snow on the 3rd of December. Your beef is with DHL and I agree, a manager doesn't need to tell you this.
It concerns me that you entered into a contract with O2 without doing your research. If Orange suits your finances better then go with them, but do us all a favour and do not open the phone that arrives from O2.
My only comment about Orange is that under no circumstances would they ever get my business. Once bitten..... I would rather use pigeons.

It will depend where you are in the country, but o2 cannot now take any orders for delivery in Scotland before Christmas 😮

Have you tried asking if you can collect from the depot? I appreciate that you'd rather not go to the effort, but if you're keen to get your hands on it, it might be the most pragmatic option for you (and anyone else complaining about couriers).

I ordered 2 pay as u go phones last wednesday to come last Thursday and still not had it.
Called o2 today who said it has not been picked up from them yet so i am very worried that i wont get them by Christmas now.
Can i cancel the order and ask for a refund?
Most times its Royal Mail who mess up during bad weather but they seem to be doing ok as ive had items come by them that were sent on Friday.
To me it does not seem that DHL are really working that hard to clear the backlog as the weather has been ok for almost a week now and guess what the weather is going to get worse end of the week so more reasons for DHL to go on a go slow.
heads should roll as if royal mail can cope then they should as well.
