Declined credit check

Been with O2 17 years. Decided to upgrade to iphone and get an apple watch

 They accepted the phone, but rejected watch

I have a high credit score, no blemishes on my record

 If they don't accept me for watch. I will be leaving. Still waiting to find out why

You won't find out. The ways of O2 are a mystery. 

Probably the second item. Their algorithms don't seem to like that, but then clear it 6 months down the line.
