Received the following from +44 7956 461931 today:

DVLA: We have recalculated your vehicle tax, you are owed £73.79 due to overpayment.

The message then contains a web link to follow so that the "refund" can be processed.

Number blocked and reported to 7726.

According to the DVLA's website "All our tax refunds are generated automatically after a motorist has told us they have sold, scrapped or transferred their vehicle to someone else so we don’t ask for anyone to get in touch with us to claim their refund".

Interesting then that I have done neither of the three things the DVLA mentions yet am due a refund!

Remain vigilant people!

The dollar payment is the giveaway 😜

The 2 of those made to our house (me first, the Mrs a few days later) came with the "Your Amazon Prime is about to expire, please renew it now for $75" (yes, dollars!).

Amazon never call, they just slide the charge onto your credit card at renewal...

(Not sure if that isn't as bad, tbh 🤔

Amazon do not 'slide' the charge onto your account. I am always notified by the email address registered with them when my Prime account is coming due for renewal. I don't think Amazon would last very long if they were doing something as surreptitious as that.

I'm the same @Bambino. Always get an email before the charge is applied.

I get emails when I joined Amazon Prime but I don't get an email when the subscription is taken each month

I only see the charge to my debit card

Although the information is readily available to view on my Amazon account

I stand corrected, @Bambino and @Cleoriff  - having checked with She Who is the Guardian of Prime in our house, she confirms it, e-mail advises renewal is due and precedes the charge.  Never a phone call though...

@jonsie I pay my Prime subscription annually. Didn't know you could pay it monthly?
