Both at my home and place of work I consistently have a poor signal level.

SMS do not arrive, until hours later when I pass a better signal area. Calls are impossible to connect.

I report these, and get replies saying O2 is try hard to fix the issue, then later a text saying all is OK (when there is still no signal).

I'm nor seriously considering another network, but which one. Do they not share masts?

@jkgwatcher Get Pay & Go sim cards from the other networks to see which one is best for you before committing to anything long term.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

They don't necessarily share mast, but when they do it is separate equipment. My nearest mast is O2 / Vodafone but O2 runs at 800Mhz and Vodafone 2100 Mhz and with twice the capacity of O2.

As stated you need to try out different SIM cards to find the best for you, don't rely on maps

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
