Absolutely disgusting from O2, poor poor service. Just received a bill for over £100 for a couple of 2min calls I made to the US, one of the calls lasted literally 2 seconds and was £3. Disgusting that in this day and age they can charge that amount for a few short phone calls. Raised a complaint with the contact centre, was told I would get a call back yesterday... no call. Called again and got cut off mid call, now been transferred to a call centre in India, the poor guy can barely speak English and is struggling to string a sentence together. Quite prepared to cancel my contract with O2 unless this is resolved quickly.

Or, if calling friends or relatives in the United States, @Bax - use WhatsApp or similar, you will both need to be using it for calls, messages, even video calls and group calls and cost-free to share pictures, audio or video - worth a try, all you need is a stable WiFi or local mobile Data connection to use WhatsApp as described above. Good luck!

It is clearly stated by @Bax that he has lodged a formal complaint. There is a process to follow before that complaint, if unresolved, can be escalated to the Ombudsman :-

A complaint will not get very far, the call chargers are correct and the op has made the calls, they are moaning because they dont want to be charged for them at the published rates... 

Technical Answer: User Error, and should check call costs before making the calls... a very expensive lesen learnt
