I'm getting an iPhone for Christmas Day (I hope) and I know I have to activate my microsim...I don't want to activate it now and be out of a phone until I receive the phone... or should I just activate it while I can?
http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/
Absolutely. Pop your micro-SIM into your iP4 on Christmas Day. On the above link, enter your current O2 mobile number, then the 19 digit number of your new micro-SIM. This number is on the card or letter the card is attached to. It will say that on busy times it can take up to 24hrs to transfer the SIM, but in reality, it may only be a couple of minutes.
Do a normal restart of your iPhone after your SIM comes live, just to be sure.
Enjoy your phone....and Christmas!

P.S. I assume you already have an iPhone contract?

Personally I would call o2 on Christmas day to get your sim activated. It'll happen in about 15 mins. If you use the swapmysim link there is a good chance it will take several hours...I wouldn't want to take that chance because I'd want to use my phone asap
.....but then again, think of all those people(probably most of them children) with new shiny phones and all ringing customer service on Christmas day! Been on the receiving end of that myself

I did it the other day in about 60 seconds or less. Why would I want to ring up O2???? Shudder/shiver at the thought.
