Beware of scammers

Anonymous
Not applicable

I had a call this afternoon from someone claiming to be from O2, about the reported issue with my phone (see the topic yesterday afternoon in discussion and feedback section)

The guy was asking me for the password for my main Gmail and Hotmail accounts, I said no but Mum insisted because she thought the guy was trying to help me.

Just thought you guys should be wary.

Obviously the passwords have been changed.

With the help of my Brother.

Sorry to hear about the attempted scam

@Anonymous

I tend not to answer calls from numbers not recognised.  I know this isn't always practical, but it is safer.

My phone has a facility which says "send a text"  sometimes I use it and that is quite useful.

Don't know how this "guy" knew your problem and had your mobile number.

However you should never give information.. obviously O2 wouldn't request your details.. hopefully they should be fully informed.

Glad all ok anyway.

@TallTrees I'm loath to call CS, I don't think they'd do anything.

I'm planning a trip into Town tomorrow, I might call in the shop and have a word.
