At last Two sim cards one number

Here's the problem.
You have a mobile phone with your O2 sim card.
You have a fixed phone in your car which you'd like the same phone number.
This means taking out your sim from mobile phone to fixed phone every time you use it and vise versa when you want to use the mobile again.
Simple idea would be to have a duplicate sim with the same phone number, to put in the other phone.
02 say it's not possible to have two sims with the same number.
Not rocket science is it,,, god we've got a Hubble Telescope that can look back billions of years and 02 say it's not possible?

Hmmmm,, me thinks o2 are lying,,,, me thinks their protecting the income from two separate sim cards !!!!

Nope, O2 have advised you correctly

This is not suported by the O2UK network.

Its nothing to do with telescopes or history, just not supported. Oh, and some free info - can also cause no end of problems when porting to other networks at end of contract.

If o2 said they don't do multiple sims (same number) that's correct. If they said it wasn't technically possible, they're wrong.

Both Vodafone and Orange have had multiple SIM options in the past. You did however have to nominate your primary handset, and calls would only go to the second handset if the first was turned off.

I´ve had it for YEARS here in Holland and the technology the the SAME ....
Almost all the providers offer it ... for FREE!!! Called the Duo Simcard.

O2 in Holland is actually called Telford ... and they have it too ...
BUT they don't seem to like offering it because they only offer it to BUSINESS customers .. hard luck to the rest of us.
Yes ... they want to FORCE you to buy a second contact for the second phone ..

But what else is new in the mobile phone market ... PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT.
No wonder that they've had to be FORCED to reduce their international (roaming) prices by the external controlling organisation. They sure wouldn't do it themselves.

I used to be a Senior Project Mangager for Vodafone till I retired and implemented many of their projects .. and you'd fall off your perch if you knew how much profit they (and the other companies) make on Texts and international Roaming calls ... not to mention Internet Access.

I notice that this forum seems to be moderated by O2 themselves ... they changed some of my comments here because they didn't like what was said about O2 .. seems a bit like what happens in China.

No they are telling the truth, you CANNOT have 2 simcards with the same MSISDN.
If you understand how the information your sim holds and how it connects you to the network, then you would understand WHY you cannot have 2 sims with the same MSISDN.

The duo you talk about sounds like 2 sims with different numbers which are switchable in one handset.

I will give you an example, its a different look on the same issue.

A guy posts a letter to number 74 straight road, doesnt matter who he is, a postman then comes and picks up the letter and takes it to the sorting office, in turn this letter is passed on to another postman who goes to number 74 straight road, the trouble is there are 2 number 74 straight road's, now the postman is confused so he cannot deliver it and rejects it, sending it back to the sorting office.

Its sort of similar to why you cant have 2 of the same MSISDN's or even PSTN numbers, and why cloned sims cant be on the network at the same time as the original.

Hi, does anyone know if this is still not available. I had a contract with O2 Germany. They call this service Multisim and it is still available. I have a Sim card slot in my car stereo to use as a car phone. It would be really helpful not to have to open the Iphone slot every time....
