Anyone know what Buongiorno is?

Anonymous
Not applicable

I'm a new customer and just got a £1.50 charge on my account for "Buongiorno". No idea why and I certainly haven't downloaded any Apps or Services that would charge onto my mobile account.

I've been trying to contact O2 to ask them but cannot get through on Live Chat or via my mobile - they are annoyingly difficult to contact.

A  quick google search says it is a company that develops apps for mobile phones?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buongiorno

Buongiorno, a DOCOMO Company, develops apps and services for mobile devices.

Yeah, I'd already done that but why would it be on my mobile phone bill? It appears to be a scam of some kind and so I wondered if anyone else has come across it.

I certainly did not knowlingly download anything or send any messages that cost £1.50.

Hi

It's Still worth contacting O2 as they may be able to place a bar on your account to stop a service by O2 called Charge to Mobile ~ Direct To Bill being used.

As a last resort if this continues you could change your mobile number which is free the 1st time.

Disabling charge to mobile won't stop this type of scam.
C2M is a different system completely and these scams are across all networks and long before C2M was introduced.
O2 CS may give you a goodwill gesture but the correct approach is with the regulator, Phonepayplus, as they will be able to take action, if there are enough complaints, against the company in question.

Thanks for the responses.

Unfortunately, I still need to talk to someone in O2, which is well nigh impossible...

We can only suggest you keep trying.
If calling from your O2 handset select option 2 then option 0 and just hang on.

Managed to get through to speak to someone this morning. Charge to bill services have now been barred on my account, plus the O2 guy gave me the number to stop the Buongiorno services (text "STOP" to 64546 for reference).

He also gave me the number for Buongiorno (0207 6499636) which I called and through an automated response system (after keying in my mobile number) they told me which service I was subscribed to (some gaming service that I've no idea how I subscribed to!) and then gave me the option to unsubscribe, which I also did.

So, after all the above, I don't reckon I'll be getting another charge from Buongiorno!

And the O2 guy was very helpful by the way. slight_smile
