I'm tempted (although not completely convinced) to get the new iPhone. I'd be buying it on PAYG, and sticking my existing SIM card in it (well, cutting it down or getting a Micro SIM for the same number anyway)...
I'm currently on a £40/month contract with an HTC Desire (think it's called online 35 or something?) and I have unlimited data and wifi. If I change over to the iP4, and have to get a new micro SIM, will my contract change to reflect the new data usage caps?
Apologies if this has already been answered. Thanks for your help in advance

But every junkie needs a fix!
That's EXACTLY it! On paper, there is absolutely no reason for me to give up my HTC and go for an iP4 (in fact there are more reasons to keep hold of the Desire for me than there are to make the switch). The screen is the only thing, but the display on the Desire is bloody brilliant anyway, so it's not really much of a selling point for me.
It's just the fact that I want the new iPhone, just to see what it's like. It's one of those things where, if I didn't get one, I'll wish I had. I'm just thankful that previous iPhones have managed to hold their value on places like eBay, so if I decided to sell it after a few months, I wouldn't lose out too much. I'll wait to see what the prices are like when they're announced, then wait for the initial reviews so I can see if there are any issues with it....
Good idea!

O2 can still cap data usage on existing iphone tariffs. They just need to give you some sort of notice. My advise would be to calculate if a pay as you go handset or new contract is cheaper.
This is true, but if they do that you can cancel your contract with any term charges.
I couldn't bring myself to respond to him. The points he made have been discussed in detail previously.
Tulstar needs an answer to his original question..... wanty, come on in my dear and tell us the answer!

Ah ok, so if they decide that they want to cap my current unlimited data + wifi to one of the new tariffs, then I'm within my rights to cancel my contract and I won't get charged? Or have I misunderstood you (it is Monday, after all!)

They give you a timescale of when the changes will take place, not sure if you can only cancel within that timescale though.

I am pretty sure Graeme is quite right. wanty mentioned this in another thread, although I can't seem to find it at the moment.
If wanty says it, then you can be sure it is correct.

Now all I need is for some website to give me a free iP4 so that I can "review" it!
