Hello
I have an additonal bill on my pay monthnly for dialling 08448 003811. I don't want to dual it again to find out who it is and get more charges. Does anyone know what it is for. I'm suspecting it's from 02 when I removed 18 plus restriction. Can anyone let me know?
Thanks

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I've noticed that all.of the charges relate to when I dialled 61018 or 61818 from the 02 age verification page which says the calls are free. I'm sure the 02 page is thier genuine website.

Not aware of the need to send any texts for age verification?

That number is a premium number charged at 65p/min, and is not an o2 number as all o2 service numbers are free to call. from an o2 phone..
I cant find any mention of 61818 on the o2 website... where did you see it?? and as @MI5 has said there is no text age verification service...

Hi
Thanks for your replies
I have screen shot the 61018 number from the 02 website clearly showing it is free. I have screenshot my phone log showing the dialled number for 1 min 35 seconds and my bill showing an 0844 number on the same day at the same time for 1 min 34 seconds..... please wait for next message

... and 61818 is another number the recorded message asks you to call after 61018 in order to first change something on your phone

... so I have telephoned 02 who told me I have been dialling premium rate numbers and that's why I have a charge. After going around in circles and i mean circles ...explaining that the the the number I dialled is from a fee call link on the 02 website and that my phone records show I dialled 61018 or 61818 and that the 0844 records match exactly in tine of call and duration they agreed to remove the charges after getting authorisation to do so. I told them there is obviously a glitch in their website. They said we understand you, not you ate right. No apology - as why would they admit it to me. They said they have put a block on 0844 numbers on my phone l, suggesting it's my silly fault for dialling premium rate numbers. it Clearly, I'm not the only person this would happen to.....and I have heard of similar issues with virgin charging for premium box office sports when they were away on holiday.
Thanks for reading. At least I got a result but I've got better things to do with my time than case 02.

@Sprouts - if you have seen where a number should be free to call but is not in actuality free, ie you are charged to call or send an SMS to it, then read this post https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-and-Services/O2-Web-Top-Up-not-recognising-a-valid-O2-P... to see how you go about constructively getting someone to check it out and possibly refund you. It involves interaction with the O2 Social Media Team, link below has the ways to access these. Good luck!
