I called 0344 809 0202 as published on O2 website to report spam.

The call identity on my phone was Boyarsky Murphy Architects??

The person who answered claim to be from O2 and sent me a passcode and asked me to read it back.

I refused as O2 website states 'we will never ask you for one time passcodes'

What's going on?

How do I contact O2 if their number is corrupted?

@Littleboots

Just call 202 but your issue is more likely a CLID fault rather than anything else.

If you have called O2 it is safe to repeat codes as it states not to if you were called, but not if you call them.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Many numbers, and Social Media contacts too, for O2 in here: Guide: How to find help & contact O2 @Littleboots

Also at the foot of the main O2 site pages https://o2.co.uk/contactus (used to be here on the Community Forum footer as well, but that broke a while back and the forum manger @Dave-O2 has yet to get the site fully reinstated.

Thank you.

Do you know why the number is identified as another company and not O2?

CLID is call line identity.

The system that combines phone numbers with names of people or businesses @Littleboots

Speak to the manufacturer of your Phone, and get them to speak to the vendor who provides the service to them to get it updated..

This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account

April 2025 and this is still an issue. It's actually Google (not the phone manufacturer) that's the problem, as the app used for calls is called 'Phone by Google' (Google LLC).

There's an option to report the issue (in the app), but it would appear that the fix is too technical for computer engineers.

I hope I'm not around to witness it, but I imagine the end of the world will be the last human alive, sitting in front of a giant screen with the words "computer says no".

Yep. I've just reported it to Google for review, but would probably need quite a few people doing that

However, once naming it correctly in my dial app it at least comes up correctly on my phone.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
