They may not show their heads above the parapet but I can assure you their PR people at the very least will be looking. This is normal practice. there is also an excellent chance that someone in customer service will be looking too as will their customer relations bods. As a matter of interest 02 pay a company to search every newspaper in the land for any item relating to 02.

and they pay a company to moderate these forums

If you want to make a point to o2, write to them. What is the point in writing on a forum in the hope they read it? If you address acomplaint directly to them they have to respond to you.
I would never dream of complaining about stuff that was free anyway, if i dont want it i ignore it, but i realise that other people are more trivially minded and its a free country.

Here is where 02 become aware of people's gripes. As far as the items being free, are you aware they are free anyway all 02 are doing is pointing you in the direction and maybe getting a commission if you sign up. You can go get any of those free offers plus loads more on the Net. 02 are giving away nothing but some addresses.

The problem to your dilemma is simple. If you are unhappy with O2 then go elsewhere.
Do you really think O2 will change the O2 Surprises just because you are having a rant about how much you do not like them?
There are two sides to every coin and I am sure there are plenty of customers who like what is on offer to them at no cost or simply get on with the more important things in life rather than moaning about it on a forum.
Stop ranting, get over it and sort your priorities!

I take it you are the official voice of 02 and are quoting their policy. Or could it be you are a person who doesn't agree with free speech and feel that folk should not make waves. Might I respectfully suggest that if this thread gets up your nose, you cease following it.

So what? Does it really matter? Not to me.
Surely the point is that these are just extra bits of fluff that will appeal to some people. If they do, great! If not, ah well, they cost nothing. As long as i get what i am paying for, thats all that really matters.

If only I could... But I find your rants far too amusing! grin

Far from it... I fail to see why one would torture themselves and continue their custom with a company they clearly are unhappy with... Even if it is free!

In all seriousness though...

Here's the address for the O2 Correspondence Management Team.

Might I suggest that you write them a letter and tell them of your dissatisfaction? You could also suggest what other possible surprises that you (and others) may find more useful.
I believe you will find your time better invested by doing it this way rather than writing about it on here as it is very unlikely they will be noticed by the people you are intending your views for.
Good luck!

Yes and it annoys me, when people just come here to shout and gripe; .............H E L L O !!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a user to user forum and not o2. :womanindifferent:

O2 staff will read these forums and report back to their decision makers. Forums are an excellent way for users to get their message across to recalcitrant suppliers.

Where on earth do you get this information? and what evidence is there that o2 staff report back to particularly o2 decision makers?
And besides why would they change a decision on something as trivial as this?

Thanks for your suggestions. Should I also mention that you are encouraging their customers to take their business elsewhere if dissatisfied with the Surprises scheme?
At the last count I think I am responsible for 16 pay and go phones with 02 and 3 (maybe 4) on Vodaphone. I have no fault with the services from 02. My quibble is that the bulk of their so called free prizes are available without buying time off 02. Ergo 02 aren't giving anything away.
