I've been sent a new phone and SIM from a new job (I've been told SIM is on a business account - it was sent to me direct from 02 as I'm the only UK employee and they use different carrier in Ireland). I've popped in the SIM (threw away the packaging) and when i try and make a call to find out my number it says 'not registered on network'. Tried calling 02 customer care for business account and they very unhelpfully just said they cant help me register without knowing the phone number. But i cant get the phone number without registering SIM. Extremely unhelpful - they told me i have to ask employer my number - they don't and wont know it!
I'm in a chicken and egg situation with no help or guidance from 02. There is a 13 digit number on the SIM card that starts with '00' but I've no idea what to do with this. there is also a sticker on the back of the phone with IMIE and then two lines of long numbers. can any of this help me register or discover phone number?
Many thanks

You need to speak to your employer, as its a business account they will probably have sent you an unactivated sim card or even a blank sim card. We do this, send out MDM blocked phones and blank sims and the employee calls up to confirm the phone has been delivered and we call o2 and assign a number to the sim.
Your employer will know if they are setting up the device and payng the bill..
