Someone is leaving our small business he has asked to take his number with him

This is fine by us even if - he is pretty decided on an O2 business contract with a phone, but even if he went with another provider to we just get him a PUK code or does he get the code ? Or could he just leave and take the sim with him and we’d end up paying his phone bill if we wasn’t careful? Lol… any advice appreciated thanks

They will need a PAC to take the number to another network in their name.

If they want to stay with O2, they need to apply for a new contract in their name, then migrate the number to it

Guide: Migration & porting into O2 

Both ways transfers ownership and any liability away from you.
