Hello,

I landed in Italy last night and my phone network or mobile data is working, so I am unable to ring the Uk helpline. What should I do please.

Some things to try:
Manually search for another network
Reboot the phone
If you have an iPhone change your data APN to "mobile.o2.co.uk"
If still not working then contact O2 to remove the Roaming bar on your account.
If you message O2 on Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter ( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram ( https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

I have the exact same problem, and have now had it twice before in Italy with O2. It's not your phone. My partner's Vodaphone SIM works fine in my mobile. O2 has yet to solve this problem for me, which I've had with O2 in Italy on three occasions now.... 😞 Let us know if you get a solution!

However, your phone worked in Portugal last week with no problems. I doubt you have been back to Italy since (if your were in another country last week.)

Be interesting to know if since Portugal, your phone works in Italy the next time you go?

@Cleoriff, I am in Italy now. I came here straight from Portugal and it still doesn't work. I travel a lot both for work and my husband's family (who live in Italy, hence the trips)! No need to doubt what I say. That's the whole point of why I'm asking the questions on the community.

Apologies. I didn't realise you flew straight to Italy. I wasn't doubting what you said at all. Simply suggesting you needed to wait until you went back to Italy (not realising you were currently there)

Rules out a roaming bar though if it worked in Portugal. Very weird indeed. Hope you get it sorted. 👍

It sounds like a problem with the Italian Networks, and possibly not removing your IMSI from their databases.

From Experience this wont get fixed quickly, as it requires the Italian Network to clear down the database and remove stale entries.  And having worked with some of the Italian Networks, for in country devices, I will say this Good Luck, as you will need it.
