Hi

we have several phones on an O2 business plan including my daughter's.  She is currently in Italy and has no signal.  I phone O2 support and they said that there is no O2 coverage in Italy (but everywhere else in the world...).  I am struggling to believe this - is it true?

Thanks!!

Clearly it may not be a network called O2, but there are roaming partners in Italy for Consumer Pay Monthly, @mrs_vj_3g - cannot imagine it would be any different for O2 Business tariffs:

Get your daughter to reboot her phone, or manually select a network. Sometimes switching the phone from 5G or 4G to 3G/2G can help get latched to a network.

Good luck!

Hi pgn

thanks for replying.  Understand about the network not being called O2 but did think O2 would have a partner (though the support guy claimed they didn't).  She has rebooted twice and tried various other fixes suggested by O2 chat but so far no joy.  Will suggest she tries switching to 3G/2G

@mrs_vj_3g Never heard anything so ridiculous. How O2 allow people to work for them making idiotic statements like that to customers is beyond me.

Probably the rubbish VM Manila Call Centre, which is a joke..

Have your tried all of the Italian Networks :

Vodafone IT

WindTre

TIM

I have roamed on all 3 of these in Italy, and WindTre and TIM are the most reliable.

Take the Phone out of 5G and check the date and time are correct.

Hi madasaf1sh

thanks for your message.  Have passed on your suggestions so will see what happens.  She is on the ITA/FRA border so can get Orange France sometimes but so far nothing in Italy

It could be a local fault with the Italian network, or the phone is trying to connect Orange FR
