You can add a bolt on in your MyO2 https://mymobile.o2.co.uk/

However, when in USA you should be on O2 Travel which is a daily charge for unlimited data (but it is very slow), so you may have data but find it unusable.

Wifi or a local sim is a better and often cheaper option.
