Hi @sonia1 Yes you would but it's expensive

You would be far better getting your phone unlocked and using a local sim...or definitely use Wifi as much as possible. Skype or Messenger are ideal ways of staying in touch

You can use o2 travel in USA and get unlimited data and 120 mins, 120 texts per day for £4.99 per days used.
Data speeds are throttled though so streaming is out of the question but email and message apps will work ok.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:

Quite correct @MI5. I had forgotten the new O2 Travel Inclusive zones.:smileysad:

Maybe the countries included should be removed from the link I provided as that's giving conflicting advice ?

Edited for spelling

Indeed... and perhaps we should clarify that those rates are only available if you are on a select tariff ie

Free O2 Travel in our Inclusive Zone, is available with selected phones and tablets on our 4GB tariff, and 15GB and above tariffs.  It’s not available on tariffs below 4GB, or our 5GB and 10GB tariffs.

So until @sonia1 confirms what tariff and device she has, we can't be certain she will be eligible

If not eligible she will be paying the rates I posted I presume?

A local sim would only be economical if the OP was visiting for an extended stay, or repeat visits. It wouldn't cover the costs of calls back to the UK, unless they were using Whatsapp or Facetime, and if they used that, they'd also have to let everyone they were contacting in the UK know their new US phone number.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
