unlock my old iPhone 4s

Anonymous
Not applicable

I upgraded to an iphone 6+ last year (monthly contact with 02) and I need to unlock my old iphone 4s (02) so that my son can use it in Germany - it needs a german sim card.  I have been unsuccessful.  I followed the instruction the guru gave me and I received an email form 02 sying saying it was unsuccessful.  I need to make sure I have the correct imei number.  You can only get it by going into the settings or typing some code into it but it doesnt work as it says it needs a sim!!!  He only has a german sim and it is locked.

You should have unlocked it first with your sim in the phone. For someone else to unlock it they would need a O2 sim in the phone and go through the P&G process. As it stands the phone can't be unlocked by yourself because your new phone and IMEI will be associated in My O2. You could try if you have the IMEI of the 4S, it would be on the original box or receipt when you purchased the phone.

IMEI can be found by typing in *#06# and as far as I know you shouldn't need a sim in the phone for this.

Take the German sim out of the phone to access the settings menu.
