prevent call charges in Mexico

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all, off to Mexico tomorrow and I've got a new phone. I now have an iPhone 6 and can't remember what else I need to turn off to stop my calls and texts going through a Mexican cellular network and make them use TUGo over wifi. I have turned off data roaming and mobile data and turned on TUGo.

Thanks

Set airplane mode to on, then manually turn WiFi back on.

You can just leave your sim card at home too but remember not to turn off airplane mode until you land back in UK - we had someone recently who turned on when on the plane and got charged for connecting to the plane's network.

Correct, call fallback set to off.

It should be on if phone is in airplane mode and using wifi though.

No need for airplane mode as long as mobile/cellular data is off. I don't use airplane mode as I have a local sim card in the phone with Tugo. Airplane mode isn't a necessity at all.

Airplane mode will deactivate all cellular activity, not just data tho.
If op want no calls or texts and is not near a WiFi connection, they will need airplane mode on surely?
