iphone 4s 3G connection

Ive been given an iphone 4s and although the wifi connection is fine I cant connect at all through 3G so am unable to use apps etc when Im out of the house,  I get a low signal message when I try.  I am also unable to text but I can use the phone to make calls.  Any advice appreciated

Thanks everyone - it was the APN info that was incorrect.  All sorted now

Have you definitely got a data bundle as part of your tariff? If you have used a different handset type previously, I would contact O2 and ask them to change your data bundle to an iPhone variant.

Check your postcode here to see if you should be getting 3G or 4G.
If you only get 2G in your area it will be very slow http://status.o2.co.uk/
There are some other things to check but we can work through those when we know what quality of signal you should be getting.

If you have done the steps above try texting ACTIVE to 2020, save the settings and reboot the phone.
